Ajman mother fined Dh1,000 for assaulting son with microphone

The court cited the family relationship in granting leniency while confirming the assault.

Ajman's Federal Court of First Instance fined a 33‑year‑old Gulf national mother Dh1,000 after she struck her son on the head with a microphone, an assault that left the boy unable to perform daily activities for up to 20 days, Gulf News reported.

The conviction was under Article 390(2) of the UAE Crimes and Penalties Law. Court records show the incident followed a dispute between the boy and his sister; the mother also bit the child with a dog she owned, adding further injuries. The father reported the assault to police, leading to a prosecution that presented a medical report linking the injuries to the microphone strike.

The mother denied the charge throughout the investigation and during a video‑link hearing, but the court found the boy’s statements corroborated by the medical evidence. In addition to the fine, the court ordered her to pay court fees, noting the familial relationship as a mitigating factor.
