A shooting in the Green Hill community near Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on Friday night left four people dead and four injured, police said. Acting Commissioner of Police Trevor Bailey confirmed the incident at a Saturday news conference, noting that gunfire erupted shortly before 10:30 p.m. Officers found two bodies on a public road, a woman dead inside a nearby vehicle, and a fourth victim on adjacent land. Four additional people were taken to Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, two of whom were released and two still hospitalized. Assistant Commissioner Brenton Smith said investigators were working to identify those responsible and cautioned against speculation while the investigation remained active. Police also investigated a separate shooting in Ottley Hall early Saturday, with no link confirmed between the incidents. The killings come amid rising gun and gang violence in the island nation, where 37 murders have been recorded this year. Authorities are conducting additional patrols, random searches and intelligence operations to recover illegal firearms and prevent further violence.
