Kerala's State IT Mission announced the launch of the SafeTech (Cyber Jagratha) campaign on Oct. 7, aiming to curb a surge in digital offences that total more than 41,000 complaints a year and cause losses exceeding Rs 760 crore.

The initiative will enlist over 1,000 community ambassadors—including retired teachers, ex‑police, military veterans and bankers—alongside 600 computer‑science students. Each student volunteer will train at least 250 learners in schools and colleges, focusing on users aged 13 and above.

Muraleedharan Manningal, CEO of the ICT Academy of Kerala, said volunteers will receive a Cyber Security Inter‑University Certificate, boosting their employability while serving the public cause.
