West Indies defeated India by five wickets in the final one‑day international on 3 October 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh, according to Gulf News.
India, having already secured a 2‑0 series lead, posted 351‑7, powered by a career‑best 129 from KL Rahul and 92 from Rohit Sharma. West Indies’ chase required a record 352 runs, surpassing their previous best of 331‑5 against Ireland in 2019.
Captain Shai Hope, who was nursing a groin injury, opened the innings after Jewel Andrew’s finger injury forced a reshuffle. Hope scored an unbeaten century, including a blistering 40 off his last 16 balls, and finished with the side needing 10 balls to win. Amir Jangoo added 109 runs for the second wicket, but Hope carried the chase after Jangoo’s dismissal.
Hope, named player of the match, said, “(Chasing) is always a lot easier in India, especially with the dew. We wanted to finish the series on a strong note and I’m glad we got over the line,” and added that former India captain MS Dhoni had advised him that “you always have more time than you think.”
