Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a Russian Shahed drone struck a park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, killing 28‑year‑old teacher Inna Mariukhna and her 14‑month‑old daughter Angelina.

What happened

The drone hit the park near an ordinary café, hitting a stroller and killing the child, Zelensky wrote on X. Six people died in the attack, including the mother‑daughter pair, and 15 others were injured, seven of them children.

The Ukrainian government listed additional victims: eight‑year‑old Arina Koval, 34‑year‑old Yulia Spichak, 36‑year‑old Marianna Krasiuk and an unidentified man. The same source said a further 15 people suffered injuries.

What was said

"A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region… Pure atrocity," Zelensky posted. He added that the strike showed Ukraine needs more protection and air defence. He also urged the United States to keep sanctions on Russia in place while the killings continue.
