Russian guided bomb kills 30 near bus stop in Kramatorsk

The strike came amid a pre‑winter wave of Russian attacks across Ukraine, prompting suspension of public transport in the city.

A Russian guided bomb exploded beside passenger‑filled public buses in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine, on Thursday, killing 30 people and wounding at least 18, local authorities said.

The blast struck next to a bus stop during the morning rush in the Donetsk‑region city, prompting an immediate suspension of public transport. Oleksandr Honcharenko, head of the city’s military administration, told the Independent that "there is no doubt that Russia is cynically targeting civilians" and added that rescue efforts were hampered by subsequent Russian drone attacks.

The attack occurred as Ukraine endures an intensive pre‑winter wave of Russian strikes. A day earlier, missile strikes on the northern town of Pryluky killed 22 civilians, including five children, and wounded at least 54, according to local officials. Survivors in Pryluky were forced to sleep in heavily damaged apartments while rescue dogs continued searching for missing residents.

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, visiting Ukraine on Thursday, condemned the Pryluky strike and described President Vladimir Putin’s strategy as "evil". He said the majority of casualties in the region are civilians and that targeting them constitutes war crimes under international law.

Following the Kramatorsk bombing, Ukrainian emergency services worked to extinguish a burning bus and clear debris from the cratered area. The incident adds to a series of recent attacks on civilian transport, including a Russian drone strike on a bus in Nikopol that killed five people on 16 September, which Felo News covered in earlier reports.
