Russia continued its week‑long missile and drone campaign against Kyiv and the surrounding region on Wednesday, killing four people, including a child, and striking power infrastructure, officials said.

The attacks hit a private home in Vyshhorod, where the child was killed and three others rescued, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration. Ukrainian authorities reported additional casualties in the capital and nearby districts, with three killed in Kyiv and at least four wounded.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strikes as a "difficult attack" on energy facilities and thanked foreign partners for recent air‑defence aid, adding that protection will be needed as winter approaches.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said Russia launched 3,177 drones in September so far, up from 2,850 in August, and that most waves targeted Kyiv and its environs. He called for more missiles for U.S.-made Patriot systems and other ground‑based defences.

The Russian Defence Ministry claimed its overnight raid hit a hydroelectric plant, a thermal power plant, an electrical substation, an energy‑storage facility and a data centre, though Ukrainian officials have not confirmed those specific strikes.
