Ukraine launched a major drone assault on Russia's Moscow region overnight, killing two people and injuring seven, Russian officials said.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that 650 drones headed toward the capital, most of which were shot down. Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov said one person died in Radumlya and another in Barbybino, with seven injuries and damage to 47 houses, four apartments and three cars.
The governor added that 185 drones were "destroyed or neutralised" over the wider area. War blogger Yuri Podolyaka claimed an oil storage tank at the Volodarskaya facility was hit, though there was no official confirmation.
Al Jazeera noted the attack ends a lull in large Ukrainian strikes on Moscow since September 20, and mentioned a separate Ukrainian drone strike on a minibus in Russian‑occupied Zaporizhia that killed three.
