Rivian’s Q3 deliveries surge 45% as new R2 SUV drives record sales
The automaker built 19,751 vehicles and expects full Q3 results on Oct. 29.

Rivian reported on Friday that it built 19,751 electric vehicles and delivered 19,248 in the third quarter, a rise of roughly 45% compared with the same period last year. The surge is attributed largely to the first full quarter of sales for its new, more affordable R2 SUV, which launched in June.
The company said the R2 starts at just under $60,000 and aims to sell 20,000‑25,000 units by year‑end, a pace that would rank it among the fastest‑selling U.S. EVs after Tesla’s Model Y. Rivian also hinted at cheaper models priced around $45,000 and projected total 2026 sales of 65,000‑70,000 vehicles across the R1 lineup, the commercial van, and the R2.
Rivian’s Illinois plant in Normal is producing the R2, while a new factory near Atlanta, Georgia, is being built to eventually handle up to 300,000 vehicles annually. The firm also announced a partnership with Uber to develop robotaxi versions of the R2, noting that the autonomy market prompted it to push back its 2027 profitability target.
Full third‑quarter financial results are scheduled for release on October 29.
