South African left‑hander Lhuan‑dre Pretorius smashed a new T20 record on Oct. 3, scoring 188 not out from 79 deliveries for the Titans against the Knights in Bloemfontein, Al Jazeera reported.
Opening the innings, the 20‑year‑old reached 50 in 24 balls, added 100 in 40 balls and hit 150 after 58 balls before cruising to 188. His knock featured 13 sixes and 14 fours, surpassing Chris Gayle’s 175‑run effort for Bengaluru in the IPL in 2013.
The Titans posted 267‑3, the second‑highest total in the CSA Challenge’s history, and bowled out the Knights for 143 to win by 124 runs. Pretorius, who has represented South Africa in all formats, now boasts a career T20 strike rate of 150.44, according to Cricinfo.
