The Supreme Court of Pakistan inaugurated the 1818 Legal Call Centre on 9 October 2026, providing a dedicated telephone line for free legal guidance, case‑status queries and assistance in accessing legal aid, Daily Times reported.

Chief Justice Justice Yahya Afridi presided over the ceremony, during which the first call was placed by Mr. Muhammad Saleem, formally marking the start of operations. Afridi told attendees that anyone needing legal advice could simply dial 1818 without travelling to the Court or paying consultation fees.

The service is designed to reach citizens who face financial constraints, live in remote locations or are unfamiliar with court procedures. Callers can obtain information on Supreme Court services, hearing dates, cause lists, case fixation, and the offices or channels through which further assistance can be sought.

Specific queries the centre will handle include filing cases and applications, understanding procedural requirements, addressing filing objections, and obtaining certified copies of judgments, orders and other court documents. It will also guide callers on early‑hearing applications and how to locate information about pending matters.

In addition to telephone support, the centre will direct users to the Supreme Court’s Public Facilitation Centre and its online services, such as the Court’s website, electronic case‑information portals and digital application facilities. An expert legal adviser will be on standby to provide free guidance, explain procedural steps and refer litigants needing further assistance to the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP).

The initiative complements existing physical and digital facilitation channels, aiming to streamline access to justice for a broader segment of the population.
