Pakistan rejects Reuters claim on Afghan deaths
Pakistani officials say the individuals shown were Afghan nationals and demand evidence for any Pakistani link.

Pakistan has dismissed a Reuters report that suggested individuals killed or detained by the Afghan Taliban were linked to Pakistan, saying the people in the released images were Afghan nationals.
The Pakistani statement noted the victims wore clean, colourful clothing unlike fighters in remote mountain areas and that cold weather in Kunar and Nuristan would normally require heavier garments. It asked Reuters to provide evidence if any Pakistani citizen was among the dead.
In the same statement, Pakistan cited its 2026 security figures – 1,327 civilians and security personnel killed and 2,484 injured in terrorist attacks – and blamed militant infiltration from Afghanistan. It also referenced earlier claims of 260 Afghan nationals fighting with the Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ongoing clashes in Badakhshan, Nuristan and Kunar since July.
