Pakistan's Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR) said more than 71 terrorists were killed in Operation Shaban and related actions in Balochistan over the past 96 hours.
Security forces launched a sweep on 21 September in Ziarat and surrounding areas of Shaban District, Quetta, killing 33 Indian‑sponsored militants and seizing weapons and explosives. The operation intensified over the next 72 hours, adding 23 more deaths. On 25 September, an intelligence‑driven raid in Nushki District eliminated 11 militants and neutralised six others, also recovering a large cache of arms.
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the forces, calling the clearance of hideouts a major success, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the troops and vowed to continue the campaign against foreign‑backed terrorism.
