An armed group attacked the village of Madegoua near Makary in Cameroon’s Far North on Wednesday, killing 15 people, according to Al Jazeera.
Hundreds of residents fled the area, with many heading toward the border towns of Kousseri, Mora and Waza, as reported by RFI. Health official Mahamat Amadou said displaced people were sleeping outdoors without food or security. Displaced resident Kassoum Saley told Africanews that Boko Haram forced villagers to leave and stole belongings.
No group claimed responsibility, but a security analyst told Reuters the attack was likely carried out by the ISIL affiliate operating in West Africa’s Province.
