Oman’s Muscat Municipality announced 12 development opportunities in Muscat, featuring four waterfront schemes, at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s Urban October 2026 event, Gulf News reported.
What happened
The municipality listed sites in Qurum, Muttrah, Seeb and Qurayyat. The Qurum project covers more than 1 million sq m with a 1.6 km promenade, kiosks and seasonal market. Muttrah’s plan near the historic port includes commercial buildings, parking, craft and food markets and a small hotel. Seeb is slated for a promenade along its 10 km public beach with restaurants, water‑sports and family entertainment. Qurayyat will host a 169,150 sq m public park.
What the reports add
Gulf News noted that Al Thalath, near Mall of Oman, is the most advanced design, offering a four‑star, 220‑room hotel and 10,100 sq m of office space, awaiting an investor. Bousher Dunes is described as a 54,175 sq m leisure destination with off‑road activities, a 600‑seat open‑air theatre and retail outlets. The remaining six sites have designated uses but no completed designs, allowing investors to propose their own concepts.
What was said
Farid Khalfan Al Rjebi, investment adviser at Muscat Municipality, said the designated uses align with market demand and that “the next step is for developers and operators to move these projects forward.”
How it came about
