Newly appointed Odisha Governor Braj Mohan Ram is scheduled to land in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, a day before his swearing‑in on Oct 18, according to the New Indian Express.
What happened
The state government has arranged a special aircraft to transport the governor‑designate from Jharkhand to the capital. The Home department has been instructed to coordinate with Lok Bhavan for guest logistics. Initial requests sought accommodation for 300 guests, but later communications indicate plans for more than 600 invitees at the oath‑taking ceremony.
What the reports add
The Parliamentary Affairs department is reserving over 80 rooms across four city hotels, in addition to the Circuit House and OTDC, for roughly 200 guests. The Home department is also preparing facilities at Lok Bhavan for the larger crowd. A letter dated Oct 14, seen by the outlet, asked for lodging and boarding for guests from Oct 17‑20.
What was said
"I did not say this. I said that I will work in coordination with everyone. I am above party politics now, but the party I belong to is my capital. I will always have affinity and love for that party. But I will not work for any particular party. Hum sabke hain, sab hamare hain," Ram told reporters after backtracking on earlier remarks.
How it came about
Ram, a three‑time Lok Sabha MP from Palamu, Jharkhand, was appointed governor by President Droupadi Murmu on Oct 12. His appointment sparked controversy after comments about strengthening the BJP’s SC Morcha, which he later clarified as being misinterpreted.
