Nicki Minaj announced on X on Oct. 20 that she is "not going anywhere" in her political allegiance to President Donald Trump, after the president referred to her as his "favorite" during an Oval Office meeting earlier in the week, Billboard reported.

Trump’s comment was made at a Treasury Department "Trump Accounts Summit" held Jan. 28, 2026 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC, where Minaj appeared on stage with the president. The rapper later replied in a high‑pitched tone, "Hi, Mr. President," and added, "Not going anywhere. Right where I need to be," in a follow‑up X post.

Minaj has been involved with the administration beyond the summit. She served as a judge for the Trump administration’s Small‑Business Million Dollar Pitch Competition, which offered a $1 million prize, alongside Grant Cardone and Airbnb co‑founder Joe Gebbia. Earlier, she met Trump for the first time at the same summit and called herself his No. 1 fan. The president later praised her at a July presidential luncheon, saying she is a "fantastic person" respected by everyone.

Minaj continued her public support on a September appearance on "The Ingraham Angle," describing the opportunity to work with the administration as an honor and saying Trump has inspired many people. While some fans and collaborators have expressed disappointment, singer Cyndi Lauper told The Guardian she does not regret working with Minaj and defended the rapper against calls for cancellation.

Lauper also recalled granting Minaj a sample clearance for a 2023 track that reached No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100, emphasizing that music can be political and that discussion should remain open.
