The prime minister, key federal ministers, security officials and Pakistan Peoples Party leaders Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman attended. Participants examined reports from national security institutions and a governor’s assessment, and debated emergency measures for twelve districts, including the newly merged tribal areas.
Sources said officials are also weighing the use of constitutional provisions in Articles 232 to 234, which allow special powers in exceptional circumstances, though no final decision has been announced.
