Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh was voted out of the BBC One reality series Celebrity Traitors during Friday night’s episode, Standard reported.

What happened

Hesmondhalgh received the majority of votes from her fellow contestants and was forced to leave the Scottish castle. The episode also featured the second on‑screen murder, with Bella Ramsey killed by the trio of traitors – host Claudia Winkleman confirmed the killings.

What the reports add

Standard noted that the three traitors – TV host Maya Jama, comedian James Acaster and mathematician Hannah Fry – were instructed to choose four contestants for a deadly hide‑and‑seek game. The group gave a special key to singer Leigh‑Anne Pinnock, hoping it would protect the faithful from further murders.

What was said

Hesmondhalgh told the other players, “You know how much I have loved every second of this experience,” as she departed. Bella Ramsey, before her murder, said, “I think this is a clever move by the traitors,” and added, “I hope the faithful win.”

How it came about

The series launched last week, with Amol Rajan becoming the first faithful to be murdered. Earlier episodes saw Richard E Grant banished after suspicion of traitor status. The third episode attracted a peak audience of 10.3 million viewers, and the show returns Thursday at 8 pm on BBC One.
