On Oct. 7, 2026, Fox News marked its 30th anniversary. In a segment aired on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel delivered a biting remark about the network, saying, “Fox News turned 30 years old today, and what do you get for the network that ruined everything? Fox News launched on October 7th, 1996 as sort of a BET for angry white grandpas,” as reported by Mashable.

Kimmel framed the network’s origin with a reference to Rupert Murdoch, noting, “Three decades ago, a visionary named Rupert Murdoch asked a simple question… ‘What if the news was whatever I want it to be?’… and turned that idea into what has become the number one reason you can't talk to your dad anymore.”

The clip was followed by a montage of Fox News footage that Mashable described as “depressing and ridiculous.”
