Jet2 pulls all La Palma flights six months after launch

The airline said the decision was driven by customer demand and operational review.

Jet2 announced on Oct 12 that it is withdrawing all flights and package holidays to Spain’s La Palma island, just six months after the route began.

What happened

The Manchester‑to‑La Palma service launched on 3 April, operating twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. A planned low‑cost service from London Stansted was due to start on 6 November but was cancelled before its first flight. Jet2 confirmed that the last Manchester flight will depart on 30 October 2026.

What the reports add

The Independent reported that Jet2’s decision was described as a “difficult decision” in response to customer demand, and that the airline has contacted affected travellers with options to rebook or receive a full refund. The Daily Times added that Jet2 cited a regular review of its destinations and mentioned “unavoidable operational reasons” without providing further detail.

What was said

Stephen Turner, chief commercial officer at Manchester Airport, was quoted by the Independent saying the airline was proud to connect the North with popular holiday spots, including the Canary Islands. A Jet2 spokesperson, also cited by the Independent, said the airline continuously reviews its programme to match customer wants and may occasionally withdraw services.

How it came about

Jet2’s expansion into the Canary Islands was announced in June, adding La Palma as its fifth island destination. The move follows a period of airline route adjustments across Europe, such as Ryanair’s September cancellations (see earlier coverage). The airline’s review of demand led to the withdrawal of both the existing Manchester service and the planned Stansted flights.
