Donald Trump told the Independent on September 22 that a settlement with Iran could be reached soon, after Iran’s foreign minister presented conditions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz during a three‑hour meeting at the UN General Assembly.
Trump said the settlement was “going to be reached” and that Iran “wants to talk to us, they have been talking to us, even today.” He made the comment during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
According to state media cited by the Independent, Iran’s conditions include an immediate lift of the naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets and an end to hostilities on all “resistance” fronts.
