On Tuesday, Sudan’s military chief Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan told a gathering in Village 5, Merowe, that the army would seize “every inch” of territory held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), rejecting any talks to end the three‑and‑a‑half‑year war, Al Jazeera reported.
The statement came as at least 10 civilians were killed in West Kordofan and more than 5,500 people were displaced from villages in Blue Nile over three days, according to a local charity and the International Organization for Migration.
Al‑Burhan said the “military option” would continue until the RSF was removed, while a US senior adviser on Arab and African affairs urged an inclusive, Sudanese‑led dialogue on X.
