Datavant integrates ID.me reusable identity into patient record requests
The new feature lets ID.me credential holders confirm identity without re‑uploading documents, while providers still verify record matches.

Datavant announced that its Patient Request Tool now supports ID.me’s reusable identity service for patients requesting medical records. Users who already have an ID.me credential can sign in, authenticate and consent to share verified identity data without submitting additional documents, the company said.
For patients without an ID.me credential, the tool still requires identity proofing through security questions, a government‑issued ID and a selfie, with facial biometrics used to compare the selfie to the ID photo. Datavant stresses that identity verification does not determine which record belongs to the requester; the healthcare provider must still match the verified identity to the correct patient file, as required by HIPAA.
Datavant previously added both ID.me and CLEAR to the tool and notes that 73 % of users who employ ID.me already possess a credential, enabling a faster request process.
