Horizon Gold reports high‑grade gold hits at Snook prospect in WA
The results suggest potential for a bigger open‑pit or underground operation at Gum Creek.

Horizon Gold said its latest reverse‑circulation drilling at the Snook prospect of the 100%‑owned Gum Creek project in Western Australia’s Murchison region returned a series of high‑grade gold intersections, the company reported on October 12.
What happened
The 25‑hole, 5,151‑metre program produced a 44‑metre intercept grading 5.08 g/t gold, a 14‑metre intercept at 5.18 g/t (including an 8‑metre zone at 8.81 g/t), and a 12‑metre intercept at 5.72 g/t (with 5 metre at 10.93 g/t). A deeper hole returned 14 metre at 4.12 g/t from 204 m, containing a three‑metre section at 15.33 g/t. The drill also logged an 11‑metre intercept at 16.3 g/t from 174 m, the deepest hole to date at Snook.
What the reports add
The article notes that Snook currently holds a 54,000‑ounce resource defined across 550 m of strike and up to 70 m wide. Horizon says the new data confirm mineralisation to a depth of about 230 m and outline a steeply south‑plunging high‑grade system beneath two historic pits located 24.5 km north of the Gidgee mill.
What was said
Managing director Scott Williamson said, “With follow‑up drilling already underway across multiple prospects and further programs planned, we see meaningful scope to enhance project economics well beyond the recent DFS.”
How it came about
The Snook drilling follows earlier work that defined a modest resource and is part of a broader campaign that also includes infill drilling at the Alma May and Cobia prospects, where Horizon expects to deliver maiden resource estimates in the coming months. The company plans further diamond drilling south of the Cobia pit, shallow infill and extension programs, and pit optimisation at Alma May.
