A special PMLA court on Wednesday formally framed charges against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in an alleged 8.86‑acre land fraud, according to Times Now News.

Soren appeared via video link; his lawyer Sanjeev Sahay said the court has now set the matter for trial and witnesses will be examined. Another senior lawyer, Sanjay Kumar, noted that the prosecution’s allegations were read out and that Soren rejected them as baseless.

The Enforcement Directorate has registered a money‑laundering case linked to the alleged illegal acquisition in Ranchi’s Bargain area. The court had already framed charges against co‑accused Antu Tirkey, architect Vinod Kumar Singh and 15 others. The high court on 17 September rejected Soren’s plea for a stay on the proceedings.
