Haryana CM’s helicopter blocks Gurgaon stadium track for three days

The helicopter was removed after the chief minister returned to Chandigarh following a Singapore trip.

Athletes training at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon missed three days of practice after Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s official helicopter was parked on the synthetic track, Gulf News reported on Oct. 8.

The helicopter remained on the ground while the CM was on a three‑day Singapore visit and was taken back to Chandigarh on Wednesday, allowing athletes to resume training.

Coaches and a parent said the track’s closure forces athletes to lose valuable preparation time, and a coach urged the authorities to find a separate helipad. Security rules require the inner track to be closed whenever a helicopter is on site, though basketball and volleyball courts stay open.

Officials explained that the stadium is used because Gurgaon lacks a dedicated helipad and parking in Delhi would incur extra charges. The state had earmarked 25 acres in Global City for a heli‑hub in 2022, but construction has not started.
