Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini inspected a cleaned‑up garbage point on Oct 2 and formally launched a ten‑day "GVP‑Free Campaign" in Gurugram, part of the state’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan that began on Sept 17.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram will carry out special cleanliness drives at 21 identified Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) from Oct 2 to Oct 11, with the slogan “10 Days – 21 Garbage Points – One Gurugram.” Sites include DHBVN Colony on Mehrauli Road, Sarhaul, Tikri, Sector 18, Urbana Mall and Subhash Chowk.
Saini said the government can provide systems, modern technology and resources, but waste segregation at source is the responsibility of every citizen. He appealed for residents to avoid open dumping, to separate waste, and to hand it only to authorised collection vehicles, adding that volunteers could join the drive.
The launch follows persistent resident complaints that led Saini to suspend two regional officers of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, as ordered by board chairman Shekhar Vidyarthi.
