Joseph and Vanessa Winter, the husband‑and‑wife team behind the cult hit “Deadstream,” have been tapped to direct the horror‑thriller “Future Me,” Variety reported on Oct. 20. The film adapts a short story that went viral on the Reddit “NoSleep” forum, written by Daria Vasileva.

“Future Me” follows a man who receives a disturbing email from his past self via the FutureMe website, pulling him into an increasingly surreal nightmare. The project is the inaugural title of a multi‑picture deal linking Los Angeles‑based Longevity Pictures, indie genre label Spooky Pictures and Abu Dhabi’s Image Nation Studios.

Production credits include Maj Nassif (known for “Mercy”) producing for Longevity Pictures, with Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures and Ben Ross of Image Nation Studios also attached as producers. Executive producers are Image Nation’s Ben Ross and Longevity’s Aysel Lyatifova. The partnership previously collaborated on the upcoming horror thriller “Home Safety Hotline,” directed by Michael Matthews and based on a popular puzzle video game.

In a statement, Nassif said the success of internet‑originated horror like “Backrooms” demonstrates the appeal of adapting online lore. He added that the three companies share a passion for “original and punchy genre projects.” Schneider and Ross echoed the sentiment, praising Longevity’s “creative flair and commercial instinct.”

The Winter duo’s résumé includes the SXSW‑premiered “Deadstream,” which Shudder acquired and promoted as one of its most acclaimed originals, and a segment titled “To Hell and Back” in the anthology “V/H/S/99.” Their next announced effort is a re‑imagining of the “Amityville” franchise, produced by Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath and BoulderLight Pictures’ Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz.
