Fox Corp. names Nick Trutanich as new general counsel as Adam Ciongoli departs
Ciongoli will stay as a special adviser through June 2028 while Trutanich steps into the top legal role.

Fox Corp. said chief legal and policy officer Adam Ciongoli will not renew his contract and will step down effective Dec. 1, remaining as a special adviser through June 2028. Nicholas Trutanich, the company’s executive vice president and principal deputy general counsel, will assume the role of general counsel and report directly to executive chair and CEO Lachlan Murdoch.
The transition occurs while Fox’s $22 billion acquisition of streaming platform Roku remains pending, with shareholders of both companies having approved the deal and Justice Department clearance still required. The companies expect the transaction to close in the first half of 2027.
Variety reported that Murdoch praised Ciongoli’s three‑year tenure, saying, “I’d like to thank Adam for his many immense contributions… I deeply appreciate his service to Fox.” Ciongoli’s statement expressed gratitude for his time at Fox and said he looks forward to continuing as a special adviser.
Trutanich, who joined Fox in 2023, previously served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada (2019‑21) and held senior roles in the Nevada attorney general’s office and the Department of Justice. He said, “I will be honored to serve as general counsel and grateful for the opportunity to lead such a talented legal team.”
In a related move, Fox announced that Kristopher Jones, EVP and head of government relations, will report directly to President and COO John Nallen starting Dec. 1.
