Matchbook announced on 19 October that it has completed the takeover of rival betting exchange Betdaq, strengthening its position in the UK market.
Matchbook chief executive Ronan McDonagh said the merger will create a larger pool of liquidity, offering tighter spreads, larger matched bets and better prices for users. He added that Betdaq customers’ funds are safe and that the combined platform should deliver superior pricing.
Betdaq, founded by Dermot Desmond in 2000 and operated by EPS Ltd, will remain open for trading until 21 October, with withdrawals possible until 4 November. Matchbook confirmed that customer funds will stay protected throughout the transition.
