Elon Musk taunts Mukesh Ambani over Starlink’s stalled Indian launch

Musk’s latest X post calls Ambani “Prime Minister” and questions the delay of Starlink’s commercial rollout in India.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Elon Musk used his X account on Friday to mock Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, calling him “Prime Minister Ambani” and demanding that he let SpaceX’s Starlink compete in India.

What happened

Musk’s post asked whether Ambani would permit Starlink to enter the market, arguing the satellite service could improve connectivity for villages lacking reliable internet. He cited more than 11,000 Indian villages still without mobile coverage and claimed Starlink had spent years meeting India’s legal requirements.

What the reports add

The Gulf News article notes that Musk’s remarks follow earlier accusations that unnamed “oligarchs” were blocking Starlink to protect existing market dominance. The piece also records the Indian Ministry of Communications’ response, which rejected claims that satellite‑communication rules are unfair, stating a fair authorisation framework exists and security assessments are ongoing.

What was said

“Please accept my humble apologies for not realising that you are the real boss of India,” Musk wrote, according to Gulf News.
“Unfortunately, we are being blocked by certain oligarchs in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people,” he added.

The ministry’s statement, also cited by Gulf News, said companies must meet security requirements before spectrum can be assigned and commercial services can begin.

How it came about

Starlink received an Indian telecommunications licence in 2025 but has not yet begun commercial operations. SpaceX signed distribution agreements with Reliance Jio and Bharti‑backed Eutelsat OneWeb in 2025, yet final regulatory clearances and spectrum allocation remain pending.
