Eddie Murphy has been attached to star in “The Chairman,” a drama series in development at Peacock and created by former “Mad Men” showrunner Matthew Weiner, Variety reported on Oct. 1.

The series will be produced by Universal Television and 101 Studios, the latter run by “Yellowstone” executive producer David Glasser under a first‑look deal with NBCUniversal that began in January. It will also be the first project to emerge from ex‑Paramount executive Chris McCarthy’s consulting arrangement with NBCUniversal.

Murphy and Weiner are listed as producers. The show would be Murphy’s first live‑action scripted television role; his only prior TV credit was voice work on the animated series “The PJs.” No plot details have been disclosed.
