Merab Dvalishvili told MMA Junkie that a victory over Petr Yan in the UFC 333 co‑main event on Oct. 24 would put Song Yadong next in line for a title defense.

What happened

Dvalishvili, the reigning bantamweight champion, said the win would lock in a fight with the Chinese star, whom he described as dangerous because of his knockout power. He also offered his view on who Yan would face if the Russian retained the belt, naming former champion Sean O’Malley as the likely opponent.

What was said

"If I win, Song Yadong is next," Dvalishvili said, adding, "Because we never fought each other, he’s dangerous, and we always know he has knockout power." He continued, "If Petr Yan wins, then Sean O’Malley, because they have a history."
