Dubai Ride 2026 will take place on Sunday, November 1, when Sheikh Zayed Road is closed to motor traffic for cyclists, according to Gulf News.

What happened

The event offers two routes: a 12 km ride along Sheikh Zayed Road from Dubai World Trade Centre to Safa Park and back, and a 4 km family loop through Downtown Dubai that passes the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera. Routes open at 6:15 am; riders are asked to arrive between 4 am and 6 am. Gates close at 7:30 am and traffic resumes at 8:15 am.

What the reports add

  • Registration is compulsory even though the event is free; participants must register on the Dubai Ride page of the Dubai Fitness Challenge website, choose a route and a start gate, and cannot edit their registration – they must cancel and re‑register to change it.
  • Each adult must register individually; group registrations are not allowed. Parents or legal guardians can register up to three children, and a waiver must be signed for anyone under 18.
  • Registrants receive a QR code to collect a bib (and an optional free T‑shirt) at the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park from October 28 to October 31.
  • If a bib is lost it cannot be replaced; a new registration is required.
  • Designated RTA parking sites for cyclists are Dubai World Trade Centre Parking, Dubai Mall Parking and Dubai Mall Zabeel Parking.
  • Participants must bring their own bike and a helmet; e‑bikes are allowed but scooters are not.
  • Last year’s edition drew a record 40,327 cyclists, and organisers expect even more riders this time.

What was said

"Registration is required for safety and security reasons," the official Dubai Fitness Challenge FAQs state.
"Participation is free, but cyclists must register at dubairide.com," the RTA announcement reads.

How it came about

The ride is part of the opening weekend of the Dubai Fitness Challenge and follows a Dress Your Ride competition announced earlier in October, which also required free registration and offered Dh10,000 prizes for cyclists.
