Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo opened for pre‑orders at 4 pm on Friday, 16 October, with an initial delivery window slated for 23 October. Within minutes, UAE buyers saw the earliest slots shift forward, and some now face delivery in January 2027, Khaleej Times reported.
Emaad Khayyam, a financial professional living in JLT, said the dates jumped “week by week” and his final booking landed in January 2027. Despite the delay, he confirmed the order and said he will “eagerly wait for it.”
In contrast, Deira resident Usman Malik managed to secure two phones for the original 23 October delivery. He explained he booked instantly when the page opened, but by the time his friends tried, the next available slot had moved to 23 November.
Other buyers reported similar jumps. Syed Kazim received a November slot after missing the October window, noting the shift was “almost a month” and reflected “how high demand was.”
For some, the delay meant missing personal milestones. Sameera Ali intended the iPhone Duo as a wedding‑anniversary gift on 2 November. Her booking at 4.18 pm yielded a delivery at the end of December, prompting disappointment but not outright unhappiness.
Local traders warned the scarcity could push some customers to the secondary market, where they might pay up to Dh2,500 extra for same‑day availability, according to Moideen Mustafa of Phone Line in Deira.
