India's Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced on 17 Oct 2026 that Diganta Borah will take over as director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar, succeeding Prasanna Pradhan, who has been moved to Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. Borah, an Assam native, previously led Rajkot International Airport's transition to a greenfield facility and oversaw cargo‑infrastructure expansion. He is expected to assume charge next week, coinciding with a three‑day inspection by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The DGCA team will review the airport’s runway, taxiway, apron, fire safety, electrical systems, ATC, and the instrument landing system, and will examine an obstacle‑limitation survey that flagged a high‑rise building whose height was reportedly increased from the approved 87.37 m to 98.907 m.
