On 10 October 2026, Delhi Police intensified security across central Delhi as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) organised large‑scale protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters converged on Jantar Mantar and nearby areas, prompting police to monitor entry points to key locations, including the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.
According to The Hindu, a number of demonstrators sought refuge inside the gurdwara. Police stationed outside then asked the religious institution’s representatives to prevent protesters from remaining inside and to escort those inside out. The police said the move was intended to stop protesters from regrouping or evading detention.
A gurdwara official told The Hindu, “We won't let police enter the premises. Protesters are unarmed and not raising slogans inside the premises, so we are not against them.”
Detentions were reported nearby, including SFI leader Aishe Ghosh and Yashaswinee Raje Singh, daughter of former BJP MLA Vikram Singh, who was held at Keshav Puram police station. The restrictions also affected daily‑wage workers, residents and worshippers unable to provide identification.
