Former prime minister David Cameron turned 60 on Friday and concluded a three‑day birthday weekend with a cold‑water swim at Daymer Bay, the Daily Mail reported.

What happened

After leaving his £2 million Cornish holiday home shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, Cameron entered the sea in blue swimming shorts alongside his youngest sister Clare. The water was about 13 °C and the weather windy and rainy. He spent a few minutes in the sea before returning to his house, where he was seen strolling the coast with three friends by 11 a.m.

What the reports add

The Daily Mail noted that Cameron’s weekend featured two lavish dinners catered by Michelin‑starred chef Paul Ainsworth, with guests including Gordon Ramsay, Jeremy Clarkson and Helena Bonham Carter. Giant marquees were erected in his garden, and food trucks and festoon lighting were used. Earlier on Saturday, he joined friends for a morning swim and walk, and was later seen near the St Moritz Hotel, a £500‑a‑night spa where some guests were staying.

What was said

Cameron told the Daily Mail that he had “thoroughly enjoyed” his birthday weekend and added, “It was nice as the sun came out on Saturday afternoon.”

How it came about

The celebrations followed a disrupted 50th birthday in 2016, when Cameron’s plans for a large gathering at Chequers were cancelled after the Brexit vote forced him to resign as prime minister and Tory leader. This year, he opted for a private, high‑profile party at his Cornwall home, with over 100 friends invited.
