Canada’s fast‑growing cookie chain Crumbl is set to open its first Manitoba location on Oct. 23 at 1570 Regent Ave. West in Winnipeg, franchisee Kristina Bighill said.
Bighill and business partner Paulina Coombs are training about 60 new staff this week and expect roughly 1,500 people to line up on opening day, citing the turnout at a recent Edmonton store opening. The 1,300‑square‑foot space will feature an open‑kitchen concept without dining tables and will operate from 8 a.m. to midnight on the first day, then 8 a.m.‑10 p.m. Monday‑Thursday, 8 a.m.‑midnight Friday‑Saturday, and will be closed on Sundays.
The menu for the first week remains secret, as Crumbl rotates flavours weekly. Bighill said the inaugural week will include items such as cookie‑dough cake, Biscoff‑crunch brownie, caramel shortbread and a Halloween‑themed milkshake. The first 100 customers will receive free T‑shirts and stickers, and giveaway winners will receive free cookies for a year.
All ingredients are supplied by Sysco Canada, and the franchise reports that U.S. tariffs have not affected its business. Marketing professor Sijie Sun of the University of Manitoba noted that Crumbl’s large‑size cookies and social‑media‑driven hype typically generate long lines regardless of the brand’s origin.
Bighill and Coombs also plan a second store in Winnipeg’s Tuxedo neighbourhood, hoping to open it in summer or fall 2027. They are exploring rural sites but are focusing first on the Regent Avenue location, considering demographics, co‑tenancy and accessibility, according to Jared Kushner of ICI Properties.
