Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell presented a game ball to longtime radio play‑by‑play announcer Dan Miller after the Lions defeated the Arizona Cardinals 45‑21 on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026. Campbell said the tribute was for Miller, whose wife Cindy Miller died Saturday at age 63.
"This ball goes to Dan Miller… it’s been a tough road for him, salt of the earth man. Dan is salt of the earth, and I know this has been hard, but now I know Cindy’s at peace. We love you, Dan," Campbell told reporters, according to the New York Post.
Broadcast partner Jason Benetti, filling in for Miller, also expressed sympathy, noting, "Our thoughts are with Dan right now… with the loss of his wife of 33 years, Cindy, a couple of days ago," as reported by the same outlet.
Quarterback Jared Goff added, "He’s just an important piece of the culture here… his voice is Lions football, and he means a lot to us, he’s part of our family," the Post quoted.
