Architectural Digest reported that Casa Kaleido, a 3,000‑square‑foot holiday home in Goa, has been completely renovated by Purva Agrawal, founder and creative director of the design studio Attirail.
What happened
The renovation involved structural and civil modifications, new flooring, and a full redesign of all bathrooms. The main entrance was shifted from the first floor to ground level, opening through a garden and landing area. The two‑storey villa now contains four bedrooms, a lounge, dining area, kitchen, balcony and a small garden on the ground floor, with the remaining bedrooms and common spaces on the first floor.
What the reports add
According to the article, the redesign was guided by a Vastu consultant, leading to the relocation of several bedrooms, the addition of a balcony to one bedroom, and an enlarged kitchen to improve flow. Agrawal emphasized that the home was not intended for a single family unit; instead, it was designed to welcome a rotating group of friends and relatives.
What was said
"This isn't a home designed for one specific family unit. Because the people using it would constantly change, we weren't designing around a particular age group or lifestyle," Agrawal told Architectural Digest.
"As this was a holiday home, we wanted it to feel different from a permanent residence. We introduced more colours, patterns and playfulness while still creating spaces guests could easily settle into, slow down and enjoy," she added.
How it came about
The owners, a family settled in Goa, wanted a space reserved for friends and relatives visiting the state. They gave Agrawl full creative freedom to develop the concept, palette and spatial language. Local sourcing included décor from Rangeela Goa, table pieces from Plate & Peonie, artworks from Dessine Art and Nook At You, and textiles and rugs from vendors in Jaipur.
