Blueprints AI unveils AI‑driven permit‑ready blueprints at TechCrunch Disrupt

The Santa Monica startup says its new software can generate full construction documents from a sketch in minutes.

Blueprints AI, a Santa Monica‑based startup founded by architect Al Drams and data scientist Coco Cao, will showcase a second‑generation version of its AI that creates permit‑ready architectural blueprints in minutes at this week’s TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

Drams, who wrote his thesis on automated design documents two decades ago, revived the concept after OpenAI released ChatGPT in November 2022. Within six months he incorporated Blueprints AI in 2025 and entered the 2026 Startup Battlefield 200 cohort, earning a spot at Disrupt, which runs October 13‑15.

The first‑generation platform already produces code‑compliant construction documents for a monthly fee of $3,200 to $8,500, with custom enterprise pricing. The upcoming version lets users start from a simple description or 2‑D sketch and automatically generate architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior‑design plans. A single design change updates the entire project, Drams said.

Drams, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from the University of Tehran and completed two years of Ph.D. coursework in digital design at the European Graduate School, also runs Drams Architects and a construction business launched in 2021. He estimates architects spend about 80 % of their time drafting and only 20 % designing, and hopes the AI will flip that ratio.

Cao, a Hong Kong‑born data scientist, serves as chief commercial officer and handles sales and go‑to‑market strategy. The duo trained their models on eight years of approved drawing sets from Drams’s own firm, which remains operational.

TechCrunch Disrupt will feature Blueprints AI’s demo alongside other early‑stage AI ventures, highlighting the growing trend of generative AI in the built‑environment sector.
