Bhubaneswar city police arrested Sarbeswar Mohanty (46), Sumanta Mahalik (41) and Pradeep Kumar Sarangi (32) on Saturday for allegedly supplying mule bank accounts to cyber fraudsters who cheated investors of about Rs 3.84 crore.
The men created accounts in Trisulia under two fictitious firms – Trideep Traders Private Limited and Trideep Technologies Private Limited – and linked them to fraudsters operating nationwide. Mohanty is described as the mastermind, receiving large commissions; Mahalik was paid Rs 15,000 a month for assistance; Sarangi also earned sizable fees.
The case emerged after a victim complained that he and relatives lost Rs 62.89 lakh through a WhatsApp investment lure.
