Aureka begins surface drilling at high‑grade Fiddlers Creek gold mine

The program aims to infill known zones and test infrastructure potential as part of a three‑year, 1,800‑metre commitment.

Aureka Limited started surface diamond drilling this week at its newly acquired Fiddlers Creek gold and silver mine in Victoria’s Avoca goldfield, the company said on September 30.

The drill program is designed to infill and expand known mineralised zones and to evaluate areas for future underground development. Aureka has pledged to drill at least 1,800 metres on the tenements over the next three years, with the first phase targeting a minimum of 400 metres.

Historical assay data from the site include a 1.19‑metre interval grading 40.48 g/t gold from 19 m depth, with a 0.06‑metre core segment reaching 786.1 g/t gold, as well as high‑grade silver hits such as 0.35 m at 1,600 g/t silver from 23.35 m.

Managing director James Gurry said the near‑mine exploration drilling was identified as a key value‑add opportunity during due diligence and that the rapid start demonstrates the complementary nature of the recent acquisition of High Grade Holdings.
