ASOS said it is investigating a possible breach after a push notification warned users that its Snowflake cloud database had been "fully compromised," according to Gulf News, which cited The Guardian.
The alert, which appeared on the ASOS mobile app and linked to a Telegram account run by the cyber‑crime group Xuanye, triggered a 14% fall in the company's shares on the London Stock Exchange.
ASOS confirmed the website and app remain operational and that personal information such as names and contact details of some of its 16.5 million customers may have been accessed, but payment‑card data was not compromised.
Dray Agha, senior manager of security operations at Huntress, told The Guardian that Snowflake stores sensitive retailer data and warned that a breach of the platform would be "a real worry" if attackers had indeed accessed it.
