Vijayawada – The Andhra Pradesh Directorate of Medical Education (DME) announced on Friday the rollout of two emergency‑care initiatives in all government hospitals: a Pre‑Hospital Notification (PHN) system and a State Trauma Registry.
What happened
Under the PHN protocol, 108 ambulance crews will send advance alerts to the receiving hospital while transporting injured patients, allowing emergency teams, blood banks and diagnostic units to be ready before arrival. Simultaneously, the State Trauma Registry will digitally log data on every accident victim treated in government facilities, helping authorities pinpoint high‑risk road‑accident zones.
What was said
Additional DME director Dr Satyanarayana Murthy and State Nodal Officer for Trauma and Burns Dr Sumita Shankar said the measures target the critical first hour after a crash, often called the “Golden Hour.”
How it came about
The initiatives follow Supreme Court directives and central government guidelines, and are supported by a 45‑minute training programme for 108 EMTs and triage nurses.
