Alvaro Pulido, a Colombian‑born businessman indicted in Miami in 2019 and again in 2021, was taken into US custody, according to the Independent. The arrest followed a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations, said Homeland Security Task Force spokesperson Nicole Navas Oxman.
Oxman did not disclose how Pulido was transferred to US authorities but confirmed he will make his first court appearance on Tuesday in Miami federal court. The State Department had offered a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to his arrest.
Venezuelan officials have not commented. Pulido’s alleged partner, Alex Saab, was deported to the US in May and recently pleaded guilty to a related bribery case, agreeing to cooperate and forfeit $195 million.
