Akshay Kumar posted an emotional tribute on X on Thursday after veteran actor Nana Patekar died of cardiac arrest at his Goa home earlier that day.
What happened
Patekar, 75, collapsed at his residence in Dona Paula around 5:20 a.m. and could not be revived despite 45 minutes of CPR, according to earlier Felo coverage.
What was said
Kumar wrote that he was “really saddened” and described Patekar as a rare performer “who never needed to do too much to make you sit up and watch… That voice, that intensity, that honesty in every performance… he was completely his own.” He added, “Nana ji was truly one of a kind. It’s hard to believe you’re gone. Thank you for all the memories. You will be missed more than words can say.”
How it came about
Kumar recalled working with Patekar twice: first in Anees Bazmee’s 2007 comedy Welcome, where Patekar played gangster Uday Shetty opposite Anil Kapoor and Kumar, and later in Housefull 5. The Welcome pairing remains a celebrated comic duo in Hindi cinema.
