Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are in the final phase of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will run from 19 June to 17 July 2027, according to Al Jazeera.

What happened

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) sent a delegation to inspect venues across the three countries earlier in October. In Kenya, the newly built 60,000‑seat Talanta Sports International Stadium in Nairobi was examined, and work on the Kasarani Stadium pitch is slated for completion by the end of October with handover planned for December. Tanzania reports that its stadiums are on average more than 80 % complete, with handover expected in January, while training facilities are about 75 % finished. Uganda’s progress was not detailed in the source.

What the reports add

Al Jazeera quoted CAF President Patrice Motsepe as being impressed by Talanta’s progress. Kenya’s local organising committee chairman Nicholus Musonye said the three nations are ready to host, while Kenyan fan Kelvin Kimaru warned that training grounds remain unfinished. In Tanzania, chief executive Neema Msitha said stadiums and training sites are nearing readiness.

What was said

"I want to assure Africa, and I want to assure the world, that Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, we are ready to host AFCON," Nicholus Musonye told Al Jazeera.
"We are not yet ready because the training grounds for the coming teams are not yet ready," Kelvin Kimaru said.
"All these stadiums are almost ready. If you grade them on average, all of them are almost above 80 percent," Neema Msitha told Al Jazeera.
